August Energetic Update: Crossing the Threshold

There are some months that ask us to work diligently, some that encourage rest, and others that invite us to begin something entirely new. August feels different. It feels like standing in a doorway, aware that one chapter is ending while another is quietly beginning to reveal itself.

This is, of course, eclipse season.

Eclipses have always fascinated me because they seem to operate outside of our ordinary experience of time. They don't simply describe what is happening in the moment. They often accelerate processes that have been unfolding beneath the surface for months, or even years. They have a way of revealing what has quietly outgrown its place in our lives while opening doors we may not have known existed.

The numerology echoes this feeling.

August naturally carries the energy of the number eight, often associated with leadership, stewardship, responsibility, and bringing ideas into tangible form. Yet beneath that familiar rhythm is the deeper vibration of a Universal Nine Month. Nine reminds us that meaningful endings are every bit as sacred as new beginnings. Before we can fully step into the next season of life, we are often asked to release something that no longer belongs to who we are becoming.

This feels especially meaningful within the larger landscape of 2026, a Universal One Year. Throughout this year we have been planting new seeds, exploring new possibilities, and beginning a fresh nine-year cycle. August doesn't interrupt that process. Instead, it refines it. It gently asks whether we are still carrying old expectations, identities, or stories that no longer support the future we are trying to create.

The month begins with Chiron stationing retrograde in the first degree of Taurus, inviting us to slow down and continue healing our relationship with worth, security, embodiment, and our connection with the natural world. Healing is rarely linear, and Chiron reminds us that sometimes the deepest growth comes through revisiting familiar places with new understanding.

As we move deeper into the month, Venus enters Libra, encouraging greater harmony within our relationships, while Mars enters Cancer, shifting our attention toward protecting what truly nourishes us. Between these transits, the Lion's Gate opens on August 8, offering an opportunity to reconnect with the heart and with the quiet courage required to follow our own path.

Only a few days later, the Leo Solar Eclipse marks one of the great turning points of the month. Solar eclipses often feel like seeds planted beneath the surface. We may not immediately understand what has begun, but something new is already taking root.

The second half of August gradually shifts our attention toward release. Mars and Neptune ask us to pause before forcing action, Venus and Saturn encourage honesty within our relationships and commitments, and by the time we reach the Pisces Lunar Eclipse on August 28, we may find ourselves ready to let go of old fears, familiar identities, or ways of living that have quietly completed their work.

The month closes with a beautiful trine between Jupiter and Saturn, reminding us that sustainable growth is rarely built through dramatic leaps alone. It grows through steady choices, thoughtful action, and a willingness to trust both vision and discipline.

Throughout August, I'll also be hosting Rituals of the Eclipse: A Free Two-Part Herbal Gathering with Lincoln's Heritage Rose on August 8 and August 22. Together we'll explore the astrology of each eclipse, work with seasonal herbal allies, and create space to reflect on the personal invitations these eclipses may hold. These gatherings are also an opportunity to experience the spirit of the Lunar Herbal Alchemy Circle and the way astrology, herbalism, and seasonal practice come together in community.

As I look at the month as a whole, I keep returning to the image of a threshold. There is something deeply human about standing between what has been and what is becoming. It can feel uncertain, exciting, uncomfortable, and hopeful all at once.

Rather than rushing across that threshold, perhaps August asks us to pause for a moment. To acknowledge what has brought us here. To thank what has served its purpose. And then, when we are ready, to step forward with a little more trust in ourselves and in the unfolding path ahead.

Love and Blessings,

Lisa Marie
